Former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez got demolished on Saturday night at UFC 205. In two rounds with Featherweight Champion and now Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor, Alvarez found himself at the constant mercy of McGregor’s punches. He was knocked down three times in the first round alone, and twice more in the second before the referee ended the match.
Worst still, Alvarez never even appeared to put Conor in any type of discomfort. The Irishman seemed to remain relaxed throughout their one-and-a-half round battle and left the cage without a scratch on him.
So what went wrong for the former lightweight champion?
Apparently, he just didn’t stick to the plan.
