One of the more surprising UFC finishes we’ve seen happened tonight at the hands (or rather, the arm) of Alexandr Romanov.
Romanov’s fight with Marcos Rogério de Lima was a quick one, coming down to the last few seconds of the first round. Although de Lima had Romanov locked up in his half-guard, Romanov pressured forward and locked his arms around his opponent’s shoulder, driving his forearm into de Lima’s throat. The methodology was simple, but it worked — de Lima went to sleep, giving Romanov the win with just twelve seconds left in the first round. The win improved Romanov’s record to 13-0.
