AJP Tour Ranking: learn how it’s going to work when the competitions return
The AJP has frozen the 2019/2020 tour ranking due to the postponing of the 2020 Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic. The AJP and the UAEJJF are working with November 2020 as a new target date for the 2020 ADWPJJC.
Athletes will remain in their current position in the 2019/2020 AJP Tour Ranking until November 2020. After the 2020 ADWPJJC, the AJP Tour Ranking will be completed and winners in each category will be announced and awarded.
As previously announced, the 2020/2021 AJP Tour Ranking and the newly added 2020/2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Slam World Ranking will kick off with the beginning of the 2020/2021 season. The current timeline is as follows (subject to change if necessary):
2020/2021 AJP Tour Ranking – From May, 1st, 2020 to November 30th, 2021
2020/2021 ADGS World Tour Ranking – From September 2020 to April, 2021
Prizes for the best athletes in each weight class
The AJP also announced that in the 2020/2021 season athletes will compete for awards and cash prizes within their own weight classes. At the end of the season, the AJP will award and offer cash prizes for the athletes with the most points in each weight class within a belt color. Until the 2019/2020 season, there was one award for each belt color, regardless of weight classes. Click here for more info on the ranking and awarding guidelines for the 2020/2021 season.
