Jiu-Jitsu world champion Augusto “Tanquinho” Mendes is still recovering from his second MMA fight and already announcing some big news.
Last Saturday, August 2, he faced Omar Castro at the Duel For Domination 9 card and won with an armbar submission in round 2.
Today, he announced that he has signed a three-fight contract with Legacy FC.
“I’m so happy. I know that I have to keep on training and working hard to keep on improving my game to be ready to even greater challenges,” said Tanquinho to GRACIEMAG.com today.
Looking ahead, Tanquinho also talked about the goal of almost every starting MMA fighter, to be in the UFC: “Yes, I think of that, but all in the right moment. The idea is to get to the UFC, but first I have to do a great job at Legacy FC. I’ll get there when the time is right”.
Tanquinho, who trains in Arizona with former UFC lightweight champion Ben Henderson, is expecting to debut in the new organization next November.
He still does not have an appointed opponent.
