Downey slays the giant. 12-0 tech fall ????
— FloWrestling (@FloWrestling) October 6, 2019
After former wrestler Nick Rodriguez’s head turning performance at ADCC (and recent purple belt promotion), we wondered what he would do next. Somewhat surprisingly, he took a wrestling match tonight with outstanding wrestler Pat Downey.
The match was somewhat started by Flo Grappling challenging Flo Wrestling after ADCC in a series of tweets.
Hey @flowrestling we’ll put our guy Nicky Rod up against anyone you got. Who you bringing!? ???? pic.twitter.com/RPF9dAD3By

This was a straight freestyle wrestling match dubbed as a “superfight”, and despite Nicky Rod’s recent performance at ADCC, he lost via technical fall.
Though a technical fall is a bit surprising, there’s no shame in losing to Pat Downey, a USA World Wrestling team member and All-American NCAA wrestler. To Nicky’s credit, he took on whoever he was matched against with no question.
We profiled Nicky Rod back in May, check it out here.
