We won’t have to wait much longer to see BJJ legend Rodolfo Vieira back in action in the UFC Octagon.
The UFC confirmed earlier this week that the 2015 ADCC champion and multiple-time IBJJF World Champion will be taking on Saparbek Safarov at March’s UFC 248, which will be headlined by Israel Adesanya vs. Yoel Romero.
Vieira is just six fights into his professional MMA career, but has already been turning heads with his finishing rate of 100 percent. An obvious jiu-jitsu specialist even in the cage, five of his six wins have come via submission, with the sixth being a TKO. He’ll be hoping to continue his undefeated streak with a win against Safarov, but he’ll have his hands full with the Russian. Safarov has an impressive 9-2 record, finishing his winning fights early in all but one bout. His fight against Vieira will mark his middleweight debut.
UFC 248 will take place on March 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
