As more jiu-jitsu events are postponed or canceled due to the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, the IBJJF in particular has been seriously affected. With a large number of international tournaments taking place over the year, the organization has had to comply with local regulations to try to prevent the illness from spreading.
Following the news of multiple IBJJF event cancelations, we are compiling a list of canceled or modified IBJJF events to keep prospective competitors up to date with the situation. This list will be updated if and when additional events are canceled and does not include tournaments that aren’t organized by the IBJJF. Click on the links for each entry to see the official statement from the IBJJF explaining the reason for the cancelation or closed registration.
UPDATE 3/13/2020, 11:55 PM EST: The IBJJF website has temporarily taken down their calendar of events and has released the following statement: “While the current COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic is still developing, we are reviewing the dates for all future tournaments. The dates of future tournaments may change based on how the outbreak unfolds. We will be updating the Calendar of Events as soon as we have more information. We wish the best for the entire Jiu-Jitsu community during this trying time and hope everyone is able to stay healthy and safe so that we as a community can overcome and get back to what we all love doing: training Jiu-Jitsu.”
