A female “jiu-jitsu expert” recently had assault charges against her dropped.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred back in May 2017.
Sydney Winder, 23, was paying for gas at a local gas station when a teacher named Greg Turner began beeping his horn and “abusing her from his car” because he believed she was taking too long.
Turner then got out of his car and made “obscene gestures at her.”
Winder punched him and at one point tackled him. Turner was also grabbed by another motorist.
When police arrived, Turner was in tears.
The charges against Winder, however, were dropped because of a technicality. There was a disclosure error by the police which resulted in Winder’s defense team not getting certain details for the case.
Winder was naturally relieved by the results, saying that the case had been “stressful” for her and that she is not a “bad person.”
As far as her jiu-jitsu “expertise” goes, the Jiu-Jitsu Times was not able to verify whether Winder practiced Brazilian or Japanese jiu-jitsu (jujitsu) and what rank she held. According to a report from The Sun, Winder studied jiu-jitsu from 2015 to 2017 and took a women’s self-defense course. This would mean she is certainly not an expert in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which requires eight or more years to reach black belt…if a black belt can be considered an expert in the first place.
We can’t speak for Japanese jujitsu.
