It’s never too late to start jiu-jitsu, but sometimes, you see a young kid who’s really good at it and can’t help but wish you’d started training earlier.
Nine-year-old Matthew “Bam Bam” Velez is definitely one of those talented, hard-working youngsters, and he proved it at NAGA’s Battle at the Beach last weekend. Velez, who trains at 10th Planet Bethlehem and Zombie BJJ in PA, competed in the expert 69-lb category. Take a look at his performance (and submission) in this match, and don’t be surprised if you start hearing his name more and more as the years go on.
