BJJ has spread all over the globe. Want some proof? The 2018 SJJIF World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which started on Thursday, has representatives of all parts of the world in its roster.
Athletes from 72 countries make up this beautiful celebration of the sport across many weight divisions and ranks.
“It was the biggest number of countries registered in our tournament,” said João Silva, SJJIF president and organizer. “Last year we had 54 nationalities, but since the start of the championship it’s been a much bigger number. We’re very happy.”
