Over the hundreds of bjj matches in high level competition every year, a few become historic either because of the huge rivalry between the 2 or the incredible action within the match.
We have some frankly boring matches that are decided by the smallest advantage where one competitor “almost” sweeps another and is declared a champion.
And then we have exciting matches between the titans of the art of jiu-jitsu that are part of jiu-jitsu legend.
Here are 4 of what I consider the most interesting grappling matches
“Greatest BJJ Match ever!” “Buchecha” Almeida vs Rodolfo Vieira 2012 Worlds Absolute
Arguably the 2 top guys in the world clashed heads in an EPIC final that featured plenty of top and bottom action.
ADCC 2011 Andre Galvao vs Rousimar Palhares
Rousimar Palhares just might be the most feared grappler on the planet and he met the masterful Andre Galvao in this epic ADCC match.
Palhares had been viciously heel hooking all of his opponents on his way through the brackets and fans wanted to see how Galvao was going to deal with him.
Marcelo Garcia vs Kron Gracie ADCC 2009
Many people call Marcelo Garcia the greatest grappler P4P of all time. Kron Gracie for this author is the most exciting grappler around.
This was a clash of 2 of the greats at the highest level of competition with a ton of action.
Roger Gracie vs Ronaldo Jacare in 2004 Mundial
Two of the most talented bjj competitors of ALL time meet in a match that is historic in that reportedly, Roger Gracie broke the arm of “Jacare” in the match (in Part 2).
Both of these all time greats have since moved onto professional MMA.
