21-Year-Old UFC Fighter Chase Hooper Earns BJJ Black Belt

The youngest fighter to ever be signed to the UFC, Chase Hooper, is now a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

The 21-year-old MMA fighter and BJJ athlete revealed the good news on social media tonight after being promoted at Combat Sport & Fitness.

“Today, after 13 years of training, I earned my Jiu Jitsu black belt. I started when I was 8 years old and I’ve put my life into this sport and it’s given me so much in return. I can’t thanks my coaches enough for the years of knowledge and advice. Also, thanks to all of my teammates for all the years of hard training to help me get here.”

In addition to being a UFC featherweight fighter, Hooper also won Pans in 2016 as a juvenile blue belt competitor. He currently boasts a professional MMA record of 10-1, with half of his wins coming by way of submission. He most recently made headlines in mid-December, when he submitted Peter Barrett with a heel hook at UFC 256.
