Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza has his next UFC fight lined up, this time against Andre Muniz.
The two are scheduled to face off at UFC 262 on May 15, as first reported by Combate.
A jiu-jitsu specialist and former Strikeforce champion, Souza will be going into the bout following a three-fight losing streak, most recently getting knocked out from his knees by Kevin Holland at UFC 256. It was his only fight in 2020, and his most recent victory took place in 2018 when he knocked out Chris Weidman.
Muniz himself knows a thing or two about taking fights to the ground, taking home thirteen of his twenty professional wins via submission. He was victorious twice in Dana White’s Contender Series, earning him a UFC contract that he’s capitalized on by winning both of his subsequent fights for the promotion: a decision against Antonio Arroyo in 2019, then a round-one armbar against Bartosz Fabinski back in September. This will be his first fight of 2021.
This is one of multiple exciting fights announced for UFC 262 so far — Beneil Dariush will be going up against Tony Ferguson in a lightweight fight at the same event, and Charles Oliveira will face Michael Chandler for the now-vacant lightweight title following Khabib Nurmagomedov’s official retirement announcement.
UFC 262 will take place on Saturday, May 15.
