The lost family members are being deeply mourned by their loved ones, including the staff and students at Open Form Jiu-Jitsu, where Mathéo was a “joyful” yellow belt. The academy had this to say about the young athlete:
“Mathéo was a child full of life, passionate for the sport of Jiu Jitsu who braved all weathers to come to training on his scooter. There aren’t words strong enough to express the pain that his parents must feel at the loss of their child, in this case of their two children.”
A crowdfunding page has been established to help pay for funeral costs, and there is no amount too small to help Mathéo’s family cover funeral expenses. Those who can only afford to give emotional support or condolences are encouraged to do so in any language on the Open Form post that announced the news.
