The opening match of Medusa showcased Kiaya Jackson, purple belt out of 10th Planet Decatur, winning against Gracie Humaita Black Belt Rita Lynne De Alba.
During regulation, Jackson locked in a tight Twister that looked like we were close to getting a tap. But De Alba was able to pull off an unbelievable escape and lock in a Buggy Choke just moments later.
The match eventually went to overtime, as the Strawweights of Medusa are under EBI rules, not CJJ. In the top of the 1st, Jackson was able to secure a RNC, and she made a quick escape in the bottom of the round, securing her victory.
