10th Planet Black Belt Liz Carmouche Has Been Released From The UFC

Liz Carmouche will no longer be fighting for the UFC, according to a report from ESPN.

Carmouche’s manager, Kyle Stoltz, told ESPN that the fighter had been released from the promotion on Tuesday. Carmouche had won half of her fights for the UFC, but lost her most recent bout — a flyweight title fight — against Valentina Shevchenko in August via unanimous decision.

Back in 2013, Carmouche fought Ronda Rousey in the first-ever female UFC fight — Rousey won the fight via armbar. Carmouche is also a 10th Planet black belt and Marine veteran. She was actively pursuing fights before her release from the UFC, so there is still hope that she will resume her fight career with another promotion.
